TTP Empowers Customs Agents with Ètò App Training to Combat Racketeering at Apapa, Tincan Ports

Lagos, Nigeria – In a bid to enhance efficiency and tackle exploitation at Apapa and Tincan Ports, Trucks Transit Parks Ltd. (TTP) has conducted a specialized training session for Licensed Customs Agents and Freight Forwarders on the use of the Ètò electronic call-up system.

The event, held at the Customs Processing Centre (CPC) Auditorium in Apapa, was organized in collaboration with the Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, led by Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, and supported by the Joint Association for Licensed Customs Agents and Freight Forwarders (JALCAFF).

Customs Boss Urges Agents to Take Control

Speaking at the training, Comptroller Olomu commended TTP for the initiative and urged agents to leverage the knowledge gained to bypass middlemen inflating ticket prices.

“I appreciate TTP for this impactful session. Agents must now take charge of their bookings to avoid exploitation by fraudsters selling tickets at outrageous prices,” Olomu stated.

ANLCA, NAGAFF Leaders Advocate for Cost Reduction

Chief Emeka Chukwumalu, Chairman of the Apapa Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), stressed the need to reduce exorbitant transport costs hindering business operations at the port.

“This training is crucial for understanding the Ètò system and finding solutions to the high cost of cargo movement in Apapa,” Chukwumalu said.

Similarly, Mr. Eze Uchendu, Chairman of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), called for greater transparency from terminal operators to speed up truck processing.

TTP Clarifies Ètò Pricing, Demystifies Booking Process

Mr. Irabor Akonoman, TTP’s Head of Operations, dismissed rumors about price hikes, confirming that the official fee for Ètò tickets remains ₦20,750.

“The inflated prices are due to racketeering, not TTP. This training equips agents with the right tools to book directly, track their trucks, and ensure transparency,” Akonoman explained.

Participants hailed the session as eye-opening, with many vowing to bypass touts and handle bookings independently.

“Now we know the correct process and can avoid scams,” one attendee remarked.

The initiative marks a significant step toward reducing port congestion, curbing corruption, and restoring efficiency in Nigeria’s maritime logistics sector.
