The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has appointed Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu, a renowned anti-smuggling expert, as the new Controller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’ in Ikeja, Lagos.
Shuaibu, who officially assumed office on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, becomes the 28th leader of the strategic enforcement unit, which plays a key role in combating smuggling and enhancing revenue collection in the South-West region.

New Controller Vows to Strengthen Enforcement
During a brief handover ceremony at the unit’s headquarters, Comptroller Shuaibu pledged to leverage his extensive experience to tackle the challenges of the role.
“I am committed to upholding the Service’s mandates and will work closely with my team to ensure efficiency and compliance,” he stated.
He called for maximum cooperation from officers, urging them to adhere strictly to the NCS Seven Golden Rules (7Cs)—principles guiding professionalism and integrity in customs operations.
Shuaibu also expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for the opportunity to lead the unit, expressing optimism about achieving outstanding results.
Outgoing Controller Praises Team, Passes Baton
The outgoing Controller, Comptroller Kolapo Oladeji, commended officers for their dedication during his tenure and expressed confidence in his successor’s ability to sustain and improve the unit’s performance.
“I urge the new Controller to keep the flag flying. With his expertise, I have no doubt FOU Zone ‘A’ will reach greater heights,” Oladeji said.
He also thanked the CGC and the NCS management for their support during his leadership.
