Seme Border, Nigeria – The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, has commissioned newly renovated welfare facilities, including a Senior Officers’ Mess, Gym House, and Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) Office Complex, as part of efforts to enhance personnel welfare and operational effectiveness.

Facilities Commissioned
The newly inaugurated projects include:
- A renovated Senior Officers’ Mess designed to foster camaraderie and professional bonding
- A modern Gym House to promote physical fitness among personnel
- A new COWA Office Complex to support the association’s community development initiatives
Operational Milestones
The commissioning coincides with the command’s strong performance in revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations:
- Generated N2.83 billion in revenue (January to April 2025)
- Processed 184,000 metric tonnes of export goods worth over N36 billion
- Recorded seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) exceeding N800 million

Leadership Remarks
Comptroller Ben Oramalugo, Customs Area Controller of Seme Command, emphasized the importance of the new facilities in boosting morale and service delivery. He commended officers for their dedication and highlighted the command’s zero-tolerance stance against smuggling.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, praised the initiative, reiterating the NCS’s commitment to officer welfare under his leadership. He noted that such projects align with the service’s modernization agenda.

The new COWA Office Complex underscores the association’s contributions to officer welfare and community development. Comptroller Oramalugo acknowledged COWA’s efforts in supporting families and fostering a sense of community within the command.
